A look at Saturday’s Edmonton weather by Environment Canada.

As of 7 p.m., it’s -31.5 C at the Edmonton Blatchford weather station with 7 km/h winds out of the southeast contributing to a -39-wind chill.

Extreme cold warnings were updated Saturday for the entire province of Alberta with this morning and Sunday morning said to be among the coldest, with temperatures ranging from -40 C to -50 C, and wind chill values near -55.

“Wind chills could even be a bit colder in open and exposed areas. Patches of dense ice fog are occurring, especially near communities, and could last until the afternoon,” reads the warning.

“Temperatures and wind chills are forecast to warm up somewhat, starting on Monday.”

“Somewhat” being the operative word there, with forecasters calling for a slight reprieve Monday with a forecast high of -19 C, and a low of -30 C. Tuesday’s high is slated to reach -22 C but with a low of -23 C
