A group of Ukrainian military in the Azovstal area in Mariupol came out with a white flag to the road intended for the evacuation of civilians, said the commander of the Vostok battalion Alexander Khodakovsky.
“Towards the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian military moved forward as truce envoys. This is the first personal contact of the parties for the entire time of the fighting in Mariupol, ”the military reporter of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company in Ukraine, Yevgeny Poddubny, notes in the Telegram channel.
Earlier it was reported that another 50 people were evacuated from the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol on Saturday. Thus, the number of civilians evacuated from the territory of the enterprise reached 176 people.
Prior to this, UN Secretary General António Guterres said that the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross evacuated about 500 people from the Azovstal metallurgical plant. A few hours ago, another 13 civilians left the enterprise in Mariupol, and before that a group of 12 people was taken out.
Recall, the Russian Armed Forces opened from 08.00 to 18.00 Moscow time on May 5, 6 and 7 a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians from Azovstal. Due to the enemy’s attempt to reach firing positions, the situation at Azovstal worsened, but the enterprise is not being stormed.
The civilians who left the Mariupol plant did not know anything about the humanitarian corridors that were being opened especially for them, or about the evacuation that was being prepared, the militants hid this information from them.
